2026 NYC-DSA City Convention

Saturday, November 14, 2026

Exact location coming soon

15,000 members.

One democratic chapter deciding our structure and activity for the next two years.

We’re excited to announce that our biennial City Convention will be on Saturday, November 14. Exact location and schedule will be sent to all members soon. The NYC-DSA City Convention is where our chapter’s democratic structures get put into place and delegates representing our 15,000 members deliberate, debate, and decide on the structure and activity of our chapter for the next two years.

City Convention is where historic decisions get made. At the last City Convention in 2024, the chapter voted to endorse Zohran for Mayor and the very next day, he launched the campaign. Whether you’ve been a member since 2016 or just joined a few weeks ago, we hope you’ll participate in our biggest City Convention to date.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is “City Convention”?+

City Convention is a biennial decision-making meeting where delegates representing all NYC-DSA members debate and vote on proposals. These proposals shape our chapter’s political direction and how the chapter is administered day to day. Some proposals can change our chapter’s constitution.

When is convention?+

Saturday, November 14, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Where is the convention going to be held?+

The convention will be held in an accessible venue in New York City. The exact location will be shared with all members before delegate nominations begin.

How can I participate in convention?+

As a member in good standing, you can run as a delegate, submit proposals and amendments, or volunteer to help make the convention happen. Come to Convention 101 if you are not sure how you want to participate.

Who can participate in the convention?+

NYC-DSA members in good standing who join on or before September 7, 2026, may run for delegate. All members in good standing can volunteer and vote in delegate elections.

Can members who are not delegates come as observers?+

Yes. Because space is limited, members who are not delegates will also be expected to take on a volunteer role at convention.

How big is convention?+

There will be hundreds of delegates. Delegates are apportioned according to the relative size of our seven geographic branches.

Will members of the press be allowed? Press access is invite-only. Direct press inquiries to press@socialists.nyc.
